Uruguay has a host of lively festivals which offer visitors wonderful insight into this colorful nation. Many events are religious in nature, such as Holy Week, but the country also observes regular holidays such as New Year’s Day, Labor Day, Independence Day in August and other festivals like:
Candlemas (Día de la Candelaria)
A religious holiday celebrating the presentation of Jesus to the temple 40 days after his birth on February 2, many households hold parties and colorful processions at Candlemas. Dancing and live music are popular events held throughout the day.

GO TO BOARDWALK CARNIVAL
Earlier in neighborhoods, tablados were made in the streets of Montevideo, especially after coming carnival. It was a tradition that the neighbors would be located carrying chairs home to look at the various shows that could give the street musicians, the parodistas, comedians or extras. Today these neighborhood shows have been great outdoors and have taken a more professional basis and is accompanied by a great crowd.

PLAY SOCCER
The Soccer is the most popular sport of Uruguay. Two world championships and two Olympic championships of choice over some continental and world of their teams, achievements made that football is alive with an unusual intensity in our country. But the Uruguayan, being public and football fan, especially football player is. All children have passed through children's teams and every place, every corner is clearing a space for "play ball". Indeed, Uruguay is the only country in the world that has an urban signage indicating the vehicles traveling carefully because they can be children playing football in the street.
